A mild spicy dal from south India, served with dosas, idlis and vadas.
Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 potato
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato
- ½ chopped brinjal (eggplant)
- 1 drumstick
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- 1 pinch garam masala
- 1 tbsp sambhar masala
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 finely chopped green chilies
- 2 dry red chilies
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 pinch asafetida
- 4-5 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp oil
- salt to taste
- coriander leaves for garnishing
- grated coconut for garnishing
- 1-2 glasses of water
