Patal Bhaji Sambhar Vedhmi Dal Fry
Dal Fry
An authentic Punjabi recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 1 pinch garam masala
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch turmeric powder
  • 1 pinch coriander powder
  • 1 pinch asafetida
  • 1 lemon’s juice
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • For paste

  • 9 cloves garlic
  • 5 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • Soak toor dal for 1 hour and cook till soft.
  • Heat oil in a tava and put the paste in it and fry for 1 min. on a high flame.
  • Now add chopped onions to it and fry till light brown.
  • Put cumin seeds, asafetida, turmeric powder, salt, coriander seeds, garam masala, red chili powder and lastly the cooked dal.
  • Stir them all well for 2 mins. Add lemon juice and garnish it with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rice of your choice or chapatti and curry.
